Homage to Starry Knight

So, I saw this mural on the side of a building at Venice Beach. It's inspired by the Starry Night painting by Van Gogh. I thought it was a cool painting, and I was even more amazed that no one had defaced it or tagged over it. It looks like the painting was done in 1990. Anyhow, I shot it with my trusty Canon PowerShot SD850IS. It's two photos which are stitched together. I just used the free software from Canon to do it. There's some "barrel distortion" which I corrected, but later decided to omit because I liked the original better. With the correction, I was forced to cut out the two people in the left hand side and quite a bit of the right side, where you can see the boardwalk, was cut out. This version of the photo really puts you in the middle of the chaos that is Venice Beach.

In motorcycle news, I parted ways with my 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I hated to see it go, but I just wasn't riding it enough to justify keeping it. I've been riding my 2005 FZ6 mostly due to its reliability (it's fuel injected, so starting it in the cold is not a problem, and I'm not constantly having to fiddle with the idle screw once the engine warms up). I had to do that a lot with the Ninja. It was such a zippy bike that got great mileage. I loved having it, but I sold it to a guy that seems eager and excited to ride.

Good bye, Yellow Ninja.
